This award winning, Concours restoration Chevrolet Impala Sports Coupe (bubble top) must be seen to be appreciated.
Not only is it a rare factory option order, but it has all the original documentation from 1961 including original
service books, order sheet, brochures and even the original 58 year old purchase invoice for $3,214 from the
Columbia Motor Co, in Columbia, Kentucky. It was purchased by Coleman and Edna Noe of Louisville, Kentucky.
It was ordered with the all new ‘W’ series Chevy Big Block Engine.
These early Impala’s were the first generation of Big Block Chevy powered production cars. They were built as racecars
with several Big Block engine options, Auto or Manual Trans and the famous race themed Impala chequered flag badges. This particular
car was ordered with the rare ‘Super Turbo Thrust’ option, which was the new 348ci Big Block engine and ‘Tri Power’ triple 2 barrel carbs..
It was a powerhouse of an engine for 1961 and linked with the Powerglide Auto Transmission, it provided effortless power.
Also listed on the order sheet is Deluxe heater, push button radio, power steering, power brakes, anti freeze, 2 tone paint
and Turquoise trim. The paint code chosen, Twilight Turquoise with an Ermine White roof was an amazing colour scheme for the early 60’s.
Matched with the complete Turquoise interior trim, it definitely creates a cool, relaxing feeling when traveling in this Automobile.
The vehicle has received a complete ground up restoration to factory original specifications, to the extent of chalk markings,
as seen on the firewall and various other locations. Correct period whitewall cross ply tyres, fluid reservoirs and even heater hoses
are new, but factory original replacements. The quality of the restoration is to the highest standard. The rust free, laser straight
body work, 2pac paintwork, chrome plating, metal polishing, interior trimming and all else is that of show quality.
The car presents like new!
Mechanically the motor runs perfect and silently, the powerglide shifts well, all bearings roll free and quiet, the brakes and suspension
are probably better then 1961. At the moment this Impala rolls on Genuine 1967 SS Camaro, Chev Rally wheels and trims, with proper
white wall radial tyres. These were fitted for a few long distance car event, road trips as they corner better at high speed than the
cross ply tyres.
If sold at the asking price this Impala will come with the original wheels, white wall tyres and 5 mint hubcaps, the fully restored
set of rally wheels & some other spare parts.
Apart from winning numerous shows, the Bubble Top Impala has been a front cover and featured car in the ‘Unique Cars’ Magazine.
It is also one of two cars still used on the ‘Unique Cars’ website, along with a Track Red XY GTHO Falcon.
This explains the rarity of this car both here in Australia and even back home in the USA.
Overall this Big Block Impala Sports Coupe is in showroom condition, but it is also maintained perfectly, comfortable and reliable
for any road duties that are asked of it. It needs nothing at all, but a new owner and home.
Is has had just 1 owner in Australia over the last 7 years and has never before been offered for sale.
This Concoars Restoration Impala is both valued and insured at more than the low asking price.
We offer this $80,000 vehicle at the bargain price of just $59,990 to save you the trouble of big negotiating.
It is also listed at this low price, for a fast sale before the owner changes his mind and keeps this super rare, showcar.
