1968 Chevrolet Impala 427 Fastback

1968 Chevrolet Impala Fastback SS clone
This Impala started life as a factory V8 fastback in Cordovan Maroon, with black vinyl trim and Power Steer.
It was built in January 1968, out of the Flint, Michigan facility.
The car has been in Melbourne, Australia with one 60 year old owner for almost a decade now.
9 years ago it was completely stripped down and has undergone a full ground up, bare metal restoration
to a top standard. When the car was in its bare skin it was decided that a colour change was on the table.
The chosen colour after much deliberation was the amazing ‘Blueprint’ with gloss Black SS stripes.
The body work is super straight and rust free. A steel reverse cowl was welded to the factory bonnet.
The paint is show quality with very few faults although it’s a decade old. Engine bay, door jams and under
bonnet are of the same show standard. The electric blue and black paint work well to highlight the full black
interior trim.
Whilst the car was stripped all new bumpers, badges, lenses and a full rubber kit were collected for assembly.
All stainless was perfected, polished and everything else was zinc coated including all fasteners.
The original glass was in excellent condition, as was the full original interior.
Everything from dash, roof liner, door trims and seats is close to perfect. There is a Quicksilver shifter, full
digital dash conversion (accurate read outs) in the factory bezel, Alpine sound system and steering wheel upgrade fitted.
The small block was removed and a 427 big block Chev was fit to continue the SS theme and for shit loads more fun!
The engine is mild hottie with a camshaft, rollers, Edelbrock manifold, 750dp Holley carby and an electronic ignition upgrade.
Big 2″ primary Hooker 4 into 1 Jet Hot coated headers connect to a twin 2.5” exhaust to make a great rumble.
Matched with a kitted Turbo 400 gearbox and 2500 rpm stall it makes a fun, big torque streetcar.
It doesn’t over heat and is a very reliable driver, or can be nailed to produce some decent power and thrills.
It steers and brakes well thanks to new brakes, shockers, springs, bushes and complete front end installed
during the resto. It rolls on 20 x 10” and 18 x 8” inch Show Wheels (no rash), with low profile 235 and
275 tyres that are almost new.
Being restored 9 years ago, living outside due to car space shortage for 1 year and still looking like this is
a testament to the quality of the build performed. You would spend over $80k to replicate the build.
It is being listed at the more then reasonable and fair price of just $47,000 for a trouble free, easy sale.
The sale is only being considered to down size a car collection.
There is 7 months full Victorian reg remaining on the car and it is trouble free and ready for cruising the streets..
Interstate freight or finance can be arranged and more high resolution images are available upon request.
