These Classic HDT Commodore’s don’t last long on the market, so get in fast on this Genuine matching numbers VK HDT Director.
This Brock is build number 2780. It came from HDT in December 1985 and was sold through Nobles Holden in Gosford, NSW.
It has the original engine, 333 id tags, VIN and full HDT Verification documentation to prove its authenticity.
It has traveled just 177,000kms over its long 33 year life.
Although being a matching numbers, Asteroid Silver HDT car, this Director is far from standard and original.
It has been a hottie most of its life, so would not suit the die hard, original collector looking for a vehicle with original
mudflaps, radio and never driven. This car runs a 500 plus horsepower 355 stroker, VE GTS 6 speed manual gearbox, 9 inch diff
and sits extremely low on 20″ HDT Momo wheels.
The original 4.9lt engine was built 10,000kms ago with top quality race parts such as Scat crank, H-beam rods, Mahle piston,
stud girdle, COME Racing alloy heads, head stud kit, race balancer, roller rockers, hydraulic roller camshaft, tie bar lifters,
HDT guide plates, COME Racing mid rise manifold, 750 Holley pro race series carb, HDT cold air induction, High volume oil pump
and big 7lt sump. An MSD ignition box controls spark, with HEI dizzy and Blaster 2 coil.
The Fuel system consists of a Holley electric pump, upgraded fuel lines, adjustable fuel reg and gauge.
Pacemaker extractors run through a twin, into single 3″ exhaust. Twin thermo fans keep it cool on the hottest of days and an oil
catch can is plumbed into the engine bay. The engine runs well, with no rattles or issues and doesn’t leak out oil.
A new Tremec TR6060 (VE GTS) 6 speed manual gearbox was chosen to handle the power increase and improve the excitement level of
the drive, as the factory Automatic transmission was struggling with the power upgrade, even after a strengthening build.
A custom bell housing, ACE race series clutch and lightened flywheel were used in the conversion.
The tunnel did not need to be chopped for the gearbox. A custom 2 piece tailshaft was built to connect to the upgraded 9″ diff,
fitted with 3.9lsd centre and billet axles.
The car made 310rwkw with a soft tune.
The running gear alone totaled over $30,000 to set up, but works extremely well and was worth every Thousand of the total cost.
There are upgraded 4 piston calipers on new disks and the shocks were all replaced recently too.
It comes with a spare set of King springs, which will raise the cars ride height a little and huge HSV rear brakes to suit
the front, not yet fitted up.
This HDT Director came from the factory with Coppertone Brown interior trim. 30 years on it was in need of a tidy up, but instead
of spending money on the brown trim it was decided that a full Cerulean Blue Director interior colour change would be preferred.
The car has had a complete re-trim to the value of $12,000 in VK’s greatest, most wanted interior colour ‘Cerulean Blue’.
The Scheel seats have all new foam and new velour trim front to back. Door trims are completely re-trimmed, as is the velour roof lining.
Apart from the Alpine headunit, and 2 Autometer gauges, the interior is factory spec. A top quality alarm system with remote
central locking and immobiliser will help to secure this Classic HDT when parked.
The car has all genuine HDT body kit and the original body and panels present very well for age.
It has had a closed door blow over somewhere down the track which looks amazing from 2 meters away, but does have several imperfections
under closer inspection. There is no rust to be seen across the exterior of the car, however there is some hidden beneath the boot
rubber seal and underside of the boot lid.
The car will come with the HDT Director number plates. It did have Victorian reg until recently, but will be offered for sale as is.
It is a super cool, high performance, sexy as, fun and fast street car, and is not a 100% stock classic or a show car.
Inspection is in Narre Warren, S/E Melbourne.
