The Holden Caprice has always been the pinnacle of Luxury and Holden’s absolute Top of the Range model, targeted primarily at Government hierarchy,
Professionals, Executives, Limousine services, Gangsters and High Rollers.

It is manufactured in smaller numbers than the next level down (Statesman), which keeps it’s prestige and rarity as the years go on.

The early model (H Series) Caprice and then WB Caprice were very successful in the Limousine market but were ceased in 1984 when the Commodore
model had fully taken over as Holden’s number 1 seller. It then took 6 years for Holden to redesign a Caprice model from the Commodore body which was
the 1990, VN series by this time. These were the first Holden Caprice with EFI V8 engines, Over driven Auto’s, Independent Rear Suspension,
Electronic Climate Control, Stereo & Climate controls mounted in the rear roof, along with Illuminated Vanity Mirrors and so much more..

The series 1 VQ Caprice was released in March 1990 and the car on display is an April 1990 build, being one of the first new Caprice ever built.
In the first year of production Holden was really experimenting with paint and interior colour schemes which were no longer available by series 2.
The perfect example of these wild colour scheme Caprice is this White and Purple (Mulberry) example that we present for you today.
Through research in Holden VQ Caprice forums we have found 7 VQ Caprice that were built with the Mulberry interior, with just 2 or 3 being White.
Which makes this car far rarer then almost all other VN/VP/VQ model range from Holden and its Special Vehicle company HSV.

Not only is it impossible to find one of these white and purple VQ Caprice, but IF another still exists, it is highly unlikely that it would be
an un-restored, immaculate example like we have here. Now that we’ve explained the rarity of this particular car, lets share some details and images with you.

This 1990 VQ Series 1 Holden Caprice ran the all new EFI 5lt V8 engine, 4sp Automatic and IRS rear end, which was very high tech for the time.
The cars running gear is totally standard, without any modification apart from a new exhaust and still has the original matching numbers engine in place.
It runs perfectly, without fault and could be driven to QLD in comfort, as it sits now. There are no apparent oil leaks, engine rattles, trans slip, etc
The entire vehicle is 100% original apart from the lowered King Springs and Heritage Gmax wheels. However the factory Springs and wheels are included in the sale.

The original paint is absolutely Immaculate for age, the body has no damage or scrapes and the lights, trims, garnish, chrome, glass, etc is also excellent.
The lush Mulberry interior is in great condition with hardly any wear and it still has the factory Caprice steering wheel and fully functioning
original stereo. It is one of the most luxurious and over the top Australian interiors ever produced and from this flamboyant time in history they definitely
toned them down from this point on. The electric windows, central locking, electric aerial, climate & Cruise Control, lighting and rear controls all work fine.

The dash shows 146,xxxkm’s and has the original books showing that it was a Government car from new.
Since then it has been held in a couple of private car collections and rarely driven over the past decade.

With the ever growing popularity of the Holden Commodore models and the end of Manufacturing for Holden a few years back, these cars are rocketing up in value
and are a perfect choice for investment and enjoyment into the future.
