HQ Holden Ute
$69,990
*SOLD*
This 1978 Heavily Customised, Pro Street HZ Holden Ute has come a long way from its origins as an Australian work ute many decades ago.
It is now so clean after a well planned, ground up Restoration that you wouldn’t even want to carry a shopping bag in the tray anymore.
It was always going to be a HQ Ute, however a solid bodied HZ Ute came along at the start of the build, so was chosen as the base.
The build started 12 years ago with the plan of a tuff, immaculate, HQ ute that is a great, reliable & comfortable cruiser with some
extra power when needed, hence the 355ci EFI engine, 4 speed Auto, brake and suspension upgrade, then finished off with modern style seating.
The body work and paint on this vehicle is to a show standard. It was bare metaled, then finished in a Chrysler colour, being Platinum Silver.
The ute has several fibreglass replacement panels and parts, all custom made to a show car standard at Streetclass Fibreglass in S/E Melbourne.
These parts include front and rear bumper bars (modified), nose cone, inner guards, one off bonnet (modified and smoothed underneath),
tailgate, tub liner and complete dash.
The full custom dash has an array of Autometer gauges including an accurate GPS speedo, which was all installed when the car was fully rewired,
front to back. It has race inspired carbon fiber door trims, B&M Pro Ratchet shifter, modern VE seats customised and trimmed for comfort,
new roof liner, carpet and rear Venetian, all done in charcoal or black. The black theme continues on the exterior with all chrome blacked
out and black bonnet stripes.
The Ute runs a fresh VN style 355 stroker that is engineered for the car, with paperwork. It has an Eagle rotating assembly, ported heads,
hydraulic cam, star manifold, match ported 90mm throttle body, MSD ignition and Haltec ECU. Ceramic coated Defillipo 4 into 1 extractors
flow to a twin 3″ exhaust with high flow cats, X pipe, Hooker Aerochamber Mufflers and rear resonators. Fuel is delivered via a 57lt fuel cell,
Carter lift pump, surge tank, Bosch 044 pump, fuel filter and new fuel lines. It stays cool with a Race Radiators Alloy unit and twin thermo fans.
This power transfers through a TCE 3000 converter, full manual, reverse pattern Turbo 700 Transmission, GJ tail shaft (with handbrake), to a 9″ Diff.
The Diff has 3.9 gears, Detroit Locker and 31 spline billet axles to handle the extra power. The HQ Ute has been tubbed to suit 12″ rims, runs a
McDonald Bros 4 link and chassis mod, with Viking double adjustable rear shocks. The complete chassis and other components were powder coated
Black. Anything else on the undercarriage was painted 2pac Black.
Up front there are Castlemaine Rod Shop tubular control arms, with Viking double adjustable shocks, new bushes and joints, with 320mm
Willwood front brakes. Rear brakes are VS disk brakes, powered by a dual diaphragm booster, WB Master cylinder and all new brake lines.
It rolls on Enemies Racing Australia 17×4″ front rims with M/T 26x6x17″ tyres and 15×10″ Centreline Telstars on the rear with 275/60 M/T slicks.
The engine bay is super neat with colour coding, hidden wiring and Bliss Custom Machining bonnet hinges. The tray is a one off work of art
with a complete, custom fibreglass liner molded over the metalwork and finished to an award winning level.
The HQ ute build took 12 years to complete, was recently finished and has not been shown yet, apart from a handful of local cruises.
It has been built with no expense spared and to last a life time.
