Genuine 770 Charger
$77,990
**SOLD**
In 1971 Chrysler Australia replaced the VG Pacer sports model with the all new Charger.
It was a wild, totally new design which stormed on to the Australian car scene with the forever immortalised model of the VH Valiant Charger.
The car was an instant success. It was based on the US Chrysler A-body platform, but ran a widened track, both front and rear to take bigger wheels then its yank cousin.
The VH Charger range which consisted of the lower level XL, 770 and all famous R/T was so popular that at one stage it totaled 80% of all Australian Valiant Production.
In its debut year it also took the prestige’s title of Australian Wheels Car of the Year in 1971.
In 1971 and 1972 the R/T Charger was developed as Chrysler’s entrant in to the Australian Touring Car Championship.
The charger won the first race in which it was entered at Oran Park and in the 1972 Hardie-Feroda 500 at Bathurst a VH Charger R/T E49 came third to a
Ford XY Falcon GTHO and a Holden Torana GTR XU1 to build its reputation as one of the fastest cars in Australia at the time.
The VH E49 Charger held the quarter mile record for the fastest E/T of all Australian production cars and for decades it was the fastest accelerating Aussie
production car which cemented it as one of the Greatest Australian Muscle Cars ever.
Here on the VH Charger’s 50th Anniversary we have the honour of listing this iconic Australian Muscle Car in possibly its most famous colour scheme,
Hemi Orange and satin Black. This 1971 Valiant Charger was built as a luxurious 770 model at the S.A plant in Paint code TF 4112 (Spring Gold), with the X1 Trim
code (Black) on the 3rd of December. The car has been treated well its entire life which shows in the 90% original immaculate interior, rust free body,
good chrome and trims. The car was left completely stock till this day apart from the R/T paint job sometime back in Hemi Orange.
Over the last few years this 770 Charger has had a lot of mechanical overhauling, including a complete rebuild to the matching numbers 265ci Hemi engine.
It was built to original specifications with the exception of a stage 2 cam upgrade. The trans was checked and serviced, new master cylinder, reco booster
and calipers, new brakes, suspension parts, rubber kit, seat belts, and much more..
Also during this time the Hemi Orange paint was freshened up and all black outs were masked and painted in Satin Black. The bumpers and stainless trims are not
perfect, but excellent for decades old.
The full black 770 interior is in excellent condition from front to back for its age and clashes perfectly with the bright orange paintwork.
The dash pad is mint, original door trims as good as you’d find, good console, super clean seats, original parcel shelf and no stereo or speaker holes butchered
in over its life time. The dash cluster shows 56,000 miles on the Odometer.
The E49 style wheels have been refurbished to give the car that overall R/T look from the outside.
It is ready to cruise and enjoy for the new owner and with Genuine E49 R/T’s hitting up to $400k now, they are dragging these old girls up really fast in value.
So jump in on the investment whilst you still can.
