Holden HX Statesman, 308ci
$24,500
*SOLD*
AT LAST! We have the opportunity to offer our customers an affordable factory V8, chrome bumper vehicle..
This Matching numbers 1977 HX Statesman has been loved, garaged and well maintained since new, which shows 40 years on..
It was owned by 1 NSW family for most of its life.
This Sydney built HX Statesman was ordered in this amazing colour scheme of Bordeaux Metallic with Chamois interior and matching vinyl roof.
It was a little bit wild for 1977, but is definitely a much wanted, rare colour combination in current times.
It was also ordered with a High Compression 308, Turbo400 3 speed Auto, Salisbury 10 bolt rear axle with 3.08 gear ratio, P/S and A/C.
This set up was the top of the range driveline for the era, also offered in GTS Monaro’s.
The Statesman interior is immaculate for its age. The crash pad is perfect, so is the steering wheel, GTS dash cluster, seats, door trims,
roof lining and console. A new carpet finishes it off making it feel like you’re taken back to the 70’s in a time machine, sitting in this car.
The factory radio still remains in the unmodified dash, however a new Kenwood CD/USB/Aux/Bluetooth handsfree head unit is hidden in the glovebox
for just a small taste of technology.
Mechanically the car has been maintained to a very high standard. The matching number, original 308 has no oil leaks, starts and runs perfect,
recently completing a 1000 km journey from NSW to Melbourne without missing a beat. The Transmission shifts smoothly and the differential is silent.
New wheel bearings, brakes and Kumho tyres all round assist with the great drive that this old boy provides. New ignition parts, cooling system,
exhaust and a brand new alternator are just a few parts recently replaced in maintenance to keep the Statesman in great running order.
Seeing the car has been garaged since new, just like the mint interior the body has always been protected from the sun and rain.
The Statesman has never had more then a few very small rust bubbles in some of the usual spots. There are no bubbles at all below the vinyl roof
and the floor pan is clean and dry with no rust or previous repairs. The body is also straight and the gaps are all good showing no signs
of previous hard impact, accident damage. All of the original stainless trims are close to mint, the bumpers are straight with just a little
pitting to the front bar and the original glass is in very good condition. The paint was rubbed and painted in 2pac around 8 years ago.
The paint work now looks glossy and great from meters away, however it was just scuffed and painted over any chips, crows feet, scratches and
defects in a cheap respray. Any small rust bubbles were repaired during the respray and in general have not resurfaced over the years.
There may be 4 or 5 match head size bubbles across the entire body, on various panels of the car.
The Statesman has Holden mudflaps, exterior sun-visor and a tow bar fitted. The tow bar has just 6 bolts and can easily be removed, should
Towing be off the cards for this classic car in retirement. Being owned by one family for so long the car still has the original books with it.
It was said that the original mileage was 185,000kms, however the GTS dash cluster was placed in at zero a few years ago. It has just 6900 kms on it now.
All gauges read accurately.
With a better quality respray this Statesman would have to fetch a price of mid, to high 20’s..
I’m sure I don’t need to tell you, but these old 70’s cars rarely pop up in this condition anymore.
The car will be sold as is. The NSW reg was cashed in last year.
